Omega-3 for dogs

4 min read

Whether you’re looking for supplements to support your dog’s joints, skin and coat, or digestive system, there’s one important ingredient to look out for – Omega-3 fatty acids.

But what are Omega-3 fatty acids and where do they come from? In this blog, we explore the source of Omega-3 for dogs, the benefits, and how to add them to your dog’s daily routine safely.

What is Omega-3 for dogs?

Omega-3 fatty acids are a type of polyunsaturated fat that can benefit health.

There are several types of Omega-3 fatty acids, the most common include:

Alpha-linolenic acid (ALA): This is an ‘essential’ fatty acid that comes from some nuts and seeds. Because dogs can’t produce ALA themselves, they need them added to their diet.

Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA): These Omega-3s are extracted from oily fish, white fish, Algal Oil and seafood. They’re not actually classed as ‘essential’ because the body can make them from ALA, however, as this only happens in such small amounts, it’s recommended they’re also added through diet or nutritional supplements.

At YuMOVE, we use a range of sources of Omega-3 for dogs to help support your pet’s health. Let’s take a closer look:

Omega-3 for dogs' quality

When considering Omega-3 supplements for dogs, it’s important to consider quality rather than quantity, because some processing methods can alter the Omega-3 profile.

We take extra care when processing our ingredients. Take our ActivEase®️ GLM, which contains a unique combination of Omega-3 fatty acids. Not only is it farmed in the pristine waters of Marlborough Sands in New Zealand, but we also use a rapid-drying process that turns the mussel into powder in just 30 seconds to ensure our highest standard for Omega-3s.

Is Omega-3 good for dogs?

Yes, absolutely. Just like humans, dogs need a balanced diet to keep their bodies functioning properly. Omega-3 is a crucial part of that balance. It plays a supportive role in various bodily functions, helping to maintain overall health and vitality.

Adding a quality source of Omega-3 to your dog’s daily routine is a simple, effective way to support their everyday health and happiness.
